100% OF SALES GO TO MCC FOR THEIR WORK AROUND THE WORLD!
Mennonite Central Committee volunteers hold a Relief Sale and Auction every year in Alberta. These sales rotate between Edmonton (Sherwood Park), Didsbury and Coaldale. This local event provides significant funds for MCC to carry out its work, specifically in three areas:
- Relief: Efforts provide emergency assistance such as tents, blankets, food and medical care after disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis
- Development: Efforts provide capacity building, agricultural training, teachers, nurses and more
- Peace with Justice: Efforts provide advocacy, mediation, and skills training at the government, local, and family levels in peace building
In 2009, there were 50 countries with MCC personnel, MCC provided financial support to 65 countries, and 20 countries received material assistance and/or food assistance. Here in Alberta, MCC operates the Restorative Justice Ministries, Refugee Sponsorship, Peace Education and Promotion, and Youth programs.
